Zip-lining Video

I didn't record this video, but I wanted others to experience at least what the view is like when you go zip-lining. This was taken by a friend in the group that was with all of us on the cruise we took this last February. You can see John at the beginning and me at the end. It was so exhilirating!! I highly recommend it. This particular zip-line was in St. Lucia. There was a total of 7 lines we went across. This line is the final line and the longest. I felt like when it came to the end that I was just getting the hang of it, I could have done it all again...and again...and, well you get the idea!

Hooked

I would like to think that I do not have an addictive personality. I am pretty strong willed and can say no to pretty much everything. It's just that some things I don't want to say no to. If offered or readily available, I will not turn down Skittles or Reese's Peanut butter cups. I also enjoy cake, not much of a pie gal, but always cake (especially wedding cake, they're usually made moister to withstand being out in the open). Peanut butter cookies are less common than the chocolate chip cookie, but a favorite of mine. But I still stand by my original statement that I could pass them all by...if I wanted to.

Other things that I am hooked on, but not addicted to...salads and salad dressings. Some of my favorites are the classic Caesar, a good Greek salad, and just about any kind of vinaigrette, especially when added to baby spinach. Yum, yum.

A family favorite is baked pork chops with baked potatoes (better to do in the winter, since the oven can heat up your house more in the summer). Everyone almost literally licks their plates clean after having seconds.

Now, I can't say I'm hooked on scrapbooking, but I thoroughly enjoy it. My pages aren't very fancy, but I could sit for hours reminiscing about the events that the pages reveal. I usually scrapbook in spurts...I work on quite a bit in one week and the next couple of weeks I work on nothing, so nope, not addicted.

I also enjoy a cute pair of new shoes and new top to go with it, but not hooked on shopping either. I think I'm fairly picky about styles and colors...or I'm just stingy with my money so I hate to part with it! (Can't pinpoint which one it is, or perhaps it's a combination of both).

Exercise. Now that's pretty funny. I don't like to, but I do it occasionally because I like how I feel afterward. And I enjoy the looks I get from John when I've been doing it for awhile.

TV. We got a dish almost a year ago, so I've been enjoying some of those shows that I've heard others telling me about. As far as favorites are concerned...I enjoy the rush of emergency rooms, police stories, and sneaky spy sorts. I tape reruns of Third Watch. And I enjoy Criminal Minds, ER and my guilty pleasure of Grey's Anatomy. And since I'm a geek at heart, I heartily get a kick out of Big Bang Theory.

Now, I am ready to admit that I am a gameaholic. I have to have my weekly fix of either Settlers of Catan (tweaked a bit), Ticket to Ride, Carcassone or just any game that requires a little bit of gray matter and competition to try to beat other players. I don't think I'm that competitive, I just thoroughly enjoy playing the game. I used to cheat A LOT so that I had a better chance at winning and found that I didn't enjoying winning when I did, so I don't even cheat and I still occasionally win. I love the banter between couples as they compete between each other and the small talk that happens during turns. Honestly, if I never won another game again I would still want to play every week. As long as I have that, I think I can make it.

Sand

I have been to a handful of beaches where the sand is soft and luxurious. So soft that you find yourself squishing your toes deeper and further into the sand. I like that kind of sand.

Now, if you have kids that go to school, I wonder if you can relate to me when I say that I despise sand.?! Somedays I honestly wonder if there is any sand left at the playground at school because of the seeming buckets that have been dumped out of my kids' shoes.

I really try not to be one of those people that freaks out when something gets spilled on the floor or a stain in the carpet, but sand on my carpet or tile just gets to me. I am always walking around the house in my bare feet and so every little speck seems to find it's way into my path.

This morning I was coaxing Hayden into refocusing his attention on getting ready for school when I entered his room and was almost repulsed at what stuck to my foot... a ton of sand. I'm not certain how that much got there, but I just don't like it! And maybe it's just my vacuum, but sand is like anti-suckable (I'm pretty sure I just made up that word.).

Anyway, I believe there's a time and place for everything. Sand is meant for beaches, not my house.

Trying my hand at blogging.

So, I spent way too much time looking at some other blogs today and well, I guess I just wanted to be able to say I had my own as well. So here goes...we'll see how diligent I am at adding to it on a regular basis and how others may or may not enjoy reading it!!!

I should totally be doing laundry, but that's why there's a dewrinkle and quick fluff setting, right?

So, my typical Monday consists of getting kids off to school and then composing my "To Do" List for the week. My problem is that I usually only add to the list on Monday. I do sometimes remember other things I'm supposed to be doing, but forget to write them down. How was I to know that my memory would fail me and if it's not written down, it just plain doesn't get done. Oh well, I need to have some imperfections, right?

This could be really fun...any suggestions can't hurt either.
